Museum of Contemporary Art - Los Angeles

This weekend has been a real treat! Saturday was free Museum's day in LA so, being a student and jumping at the chance to save money, me and some pals went along to the Museum of Contemporary Arts. We were lucky to have gone when we did, because on the 2nd of Feb the Andy Warhol 'Shadows' exhibition will be taken down. It was cool seeing his work up close, although, it was very repetitive. Which, I imagine it was meant to be, but it just wasn't my cup of tea in comparison to the rest of the what the gallery had to offer. I was more accustomed to the photo-realism of the pencil drawing below, detailing soldiers, or the bright oil-canvas painting. The photographs below are a variety of peaked interests of mine throughout the day.

Once we had experienced all there was to see, my friend Molly took us to 'The Last Bookstore.' Wow! I haven't been in a variety of bookstores in the past. But after seeing this one, I'm intrigued to track down a lot more. Upstairs there were art installations and rooms filled with retro type-writers, exotic smelling soy candles, and to top it all off, a tunnel made out of books. I was in shock! Bless though, we could imagine all of the books that were rejected by previous customers were probably involved in the production of that tunnel. So unfortunate. But at least they're now put to good, attractive use.

Let me know if I should check out any more Museums/Galleries during my travels. And, if there's another bookstore ready to rival mine in Downtown, feel free to comment below.
